What does ASVCS require?

• A Unix-like os (Linux, BSD, Solaris, MacOS X, etc)
• PHP 4.4.0 or higher
• A web server (tested with Lighttpd and Apache)
• A supported SQL server, such as Microsoft SQL, MySQL (recommended), or PostgreSQL
• FTP or SSH access (to upload ASVCS)
• Cron support (required for automatic file tracking)

Does ASVCS support Windows?

As of version 0.9.7 ASVCS does NOT support using Windows. ASVCS will run without errors, however it will not allow you to add files, as path information is hardcoded. Windows uses a file path separator of "\", while other OSs use "/", this causes ASVCS to not be able to find files. Future releases will support Windows file systems.

Does ASVCS allow user access to be limited?

Users can be grouped into user levels. Each level automatically inherits the rights of lower levels. To adjust what each level can access edit userlevel.php

Limitations

At present any user with displayfile access can see any file ASVCS has tracked. Any user with access to addfile and adddir can add and thus view any file ASVCS has access to (generally anything that PHP/the web server can access). Future versions of ASVCS will likely support increased control of user rights.
